No matter where you are in your career, an objective coach can support you as you sort through your options, give you confidence, and prepare you for job search or career skills. Whether you are looking for a new job or want to progress in your current company, it can be a lonely place. You may wonder who you can trust. And your friends may cheer you on, but not know how to help you.

With a coach, you will not only push through your challenges, but actually learn from them, and thrive on the other side of that knowledge! Here are some common ways individual utilize a career coach:

INDIVIDUAL JOB SEARCH TRAINING & COACHING

Ace the Interview

The phone rings. You’re excited…you have an interview! But are you ready?

Sure you know your background, but do you really know how to describe your experience from what the hiring manager needs/wants to hear? Many people do not think they need to practice their interview skills, after all–don’t they know their background? They are usually wrong. My clients tell me that they go into the interview more confident, relaxed, and able to focus on the interview conversation.

How often do you have the chance to practice and fine-tune your comments with an experienced interviewer? This program includes 3 one-hour sessions usually done over the phone:

Session One is preparation. How do you look at your accomplishments and translate it into what employers will be looking for? We will use some commonly-asked questions as well as customized questions based on what you aspire for.

Session Two is practice. We will go through a question at a time with immediate feedback so you can create more effective responses. We will review possible alternatives so your message will be as well-received as possible by a prospective hiring manager.

Session Three is simulation. This session will be an actual interview that will take place about 30 minutes. The remainder of the session will highlight any additional suggestions and changes as well as answer any other questions you may have about how to prepare for your interview.

This 3 session program is reasonably priced at $350;

or $125 per session

Job Search Coaching

You’re unemployed. Your friends keep telling you that you’ll find something soon. Your friends mean well, but after they leave or you go home, you are all alone to face another day looking for a position. It’s a fact that most jobs today are landed through a strategic job search strategy and networking. If you’re spending all your job search time on applying to job boards like Monster or Indeed, you are probably wasting your time. Learn how to identify your job target, the right industry, and even the ideal companies you want to work for.

Working with a coach can help you fill in the gaps. Together we will create your job search strategy, learn more about the right way to utilize your network and practice your interview skills.

This unique program is to support you through your transition. It starts where you are and can end when you either get a job, or you feel confident that you have the right skills to “take it from here.”

The fee for this program is $150/month. For this you get 2 private 45 minute sessions with me and unlimited access for email volley or individual questions during that time. No long-term commitment required.

Renew as long as you need it.

In-Place Career Coaching

You are happy in your current job situation. But there are still some questions or issues you face. Not everyone has a manager, mentor, or HR representative they can go to who can help you with these common situations. Which ones do you struggle with?

Career Ladder. You took the job as the bottom rung on a ladder, but you have your eye on something more. Maybe it is a leader or a management position. You don’t know how to market yourself so when that next position comes available, you are ready. How do you make sure your supervisor knows what a good job you are doing now? Do you think your supervisor recognizes the good job you are doing? Do you know how to prepare for your next performance review? What do you do with the “positive criticisms” my manager just gave you?

Dealing with the constant threat of losing your job. You may have a job, but the threat of acquisitions, mergers, and downsizing remain all around us. If you are lucky enough to keep your job, you are often asked to do more with less. How do you survive this tumultuous work environment? You may know what your ideal career choice is, but you can’t wait for it any longer. You took a job to pay my expenses. How do you get through each day when it is boring? How do you find the time and energy to look for what you really want?

Team challenges. It’s true, not everyone you will need to work with side-by-side is as dedicated as you are or as nice. Many have their own agenda which may not support your goals. Who can you trust? Do you simply have someone hard to deal with? For now, you are stuck with this person. How do you do your job AND deal with him/her?

Career and Work Life Balance. Your family is very important to you, but you spend most of your life working. You see your kids growing up and you’re not there to watch them. How do you possibly balance the two important aspects in your life?

The list is endless.

Could you use some support and guidance with any of the issues? If you haven’t found solutions to your issue, you probably need help to get unstuck! Coaching gives you an objective supportive person that can get you unstuck and onto a future you deserve.

Coaching is an investment for your career. How many sessions you need will be determined at time of the consultation. Discounts given in packages of 3.

Testimonials

Although I had your business card for a few weeks, I hesitated calling you until one day, I just felt inspired to contact you. Am I glad I did! After applying for literally hundreds of jobs this past year with not even one interview…after sending the résumé you created for me, not only did I get the interview, but I got the job! I feel that God inspired me to move forward and sent you into my life when I needed it the most. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
—J. Bloomfield, Asheville, NC

So, thought I'd brighten your day!  My new supervisor complimented my resume. She said she liked the summary at the top. She also commented that she wasn't positive that my background would've jumped out as a perfect match, but it was written in a way that highlighted my skills as a match for her needs. The resume you wrote for me did much more than any of those things, however. It changed the way I view myself.  It supported me, and gave me a confidence that I was lacking at that time. When I first saw your draft, I didn't immediately connect with it, yet I knew it was all truth. It grew on me, or I grew into it. By the time I walked into those last 2 interviews, I had a new confidence. Something deeper than just knowing I could do the job. I knew I was the right choice. That confidence, that knowing, attracted those jobs to me as surely as my credentials well presented.  It was both, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

I just wanted to write and let you know how much I appreciate your help with my resume. It worked!!! I have had 3 interviews, a step I did not reach before. While I have not received a job offer yet, I know it is just a matter of time before I find a position that is the right fit. Your help with the resume made all the difference!

I have built my business through satisfied clients so I cherish testimonials. One of the most stand-out testimonials that was given to me was shared by a client I coached to help her with an upcoming interview.

This client told me later, that she had met a woman at a community event. Jen shared about looking for a position and was telling her about the "biz coach" who prepped her for the interview. The other woman mentioned how she found this excellent person to do her resume and that the résumé itself was highly complemented on in her interview. And best yet, she got the job in the end! In a few minutes, they deducted they were both talking about the same person…ME!
